Dodge ball? Kick ball? Baseball? No, Futbol!! Yes, Soccer is quickly becoming a popular playground sport! So much so, that Maple Avenue Elementary (Sussex) recently requested a second set of soccer goals (1 set wasn’t enough for all the kids wanting to play!). PS United donated an old set of goals to the school, which were moved from another location with the help of several volunteers from both PS United and Maple Avenue.
August 10 marked the season start where 5 staff coaches, 10 staff trainers, and 19 team coaches will guide more than 100 players through 16 hours of weekly practice across 6 divisions!
The grass is coming in and the fields are green at the Halquist Youth Complex (HYC). The HYC may be ready for spring 2016, however we are planning for the fall of 2016. HYC will have 2 full size fields, 3 U10 size fields, and 2 softball diamonds. The full size fields will feature “crowned” pitches where the center of the field is about 15 inches higher than either of the touchlines, allowing for better drainage and maintaining playable conditions in wet weather. This is very common for professional fields, and in stadiums, but typically not seen on youth fields. HYC is located just south of Hamilton High School, with entry and more than 140 parking spaces on Town Line Rd.
The week of July 20 was a great week of soccer (and weather!). Thank you to over 115 players that participatied in PS United’s annual soccer camp. Players of all skill levels, aged 6-14, came out for fun, and hard work to develop their skills for the fall season. See you next year!
Ground was broken and development of the Pewaukee Sports Complex officially began July 23. Erosion control and necessary fencing is being placed to meet DNR requirements. Hauling roads and pads are being constructed to store materials, then detention ponds will be developed. Things are going to start changing pretty quickly, so be sure to drive by often! The Complex is located on Lindsay Road in Pewaukee, 1/2 mile east of Balmer Park.
