PS United Soccer Club is pleased to announce the transition of
Tony Pierce to Technical Director-Goalkeeping, for the 2017-18 Soccer Season
Tony has been with our club for two years as the Director of Select Soccer, and has enjoyed a long and rich history with soccer in the Wisconsin community.
Tony is a recent Wisconsin Soccer Hall of Fame inductee and current Head Coach of the Wisconsin Lutheran College Women’s Soccer Team. He was a former professional player at the Milwaukee Wave and then served as their Director of Community Relations. Tony earned significant player-development experience as a coach at the Chicago Fire, MSOE, UWM, Concordia, UWGB, Midland College, and Lakeland College.
Tony is a US Soccer A-Licensed coach and holds a National Goalkeeping License. He will be responsible for the technical leadership, coaching, and curriculum development of our goalkeepers—creating a magnet program for keepers in the area.
We are also very excited that Tony will continue to leverage his considerable expertise, as well as his practical and approachable demeanor, to mentor our players and coaches over the coming seasons.
Please congratulate Tony on this new role at PS UNITED!
My U18B Black and U11B Red teams made tremendous efforts last weekend at the Froedtert & Medical College of WI Invitational tournament at Uihlein.
The U18s did absolutely fantastic last weekend. We played three games. We did take one game, but the other two were notable in the level of competition we faced and held up against. We were able to hold off a regional team to 1-1 through most of the first half; we played absolutely brilliantly with them.
Another faceoff was against a premier team from Minnesota. According to their coach, they had the “best striker from their state who has numerous Division 1 scholarship offers”. Based on the first half, we can play against any team. So, a tremendous, tremendous accomplishment for the U18s this weekend.
The U11s had their work cut out for them as they matched up against higher division teams through the entire tournament. While their competition may have been unbalanced, the boys rose to the challenge. They fought to create at least half a dozen looks inside the box, and three were opportunities inside the six, and we were able to get off the shots. Very great experience for everyone overall.
U12B Red, coached by Andy Berlinski, took first place at the Froedtert & medical College of WI Invitational.
The team focused on their fundamental skills developed in training since last August and played excellent matches to earn the Championship.
The U14/15 girls black team, coach by Mark Hagen, finished 2nd at the Froedtert & Medical College of WI Invitational. The girls played great, and fought hard, right down to a shootout finish – where the game ends in tie, and the tie breaker goes to a shootout. 5 players each go 1v1 against the opposing keeper, and whichever team makes the most goals earns the W.
These ladies showed true grit and sportsmanship right to the finish! Well done & congratulations!
Brilliant session at Carroll College Schneider Stadium. The girls observed a physical warm up, technical warm up, small sided game and expanded game. When the girls took the field, they participated with the women’s team in a technical warm up followed by a mixed 2v2 game. We then finished with a Q&A session with head coach Susie Foster and the women’s team.
I think the most important aspect of the whole session was that the drills that they saw were no different from the ones that they do week in, week out and it inspired them. They were buzzing when we left!
Big thanks to Susie Foster and all of the women’s team for a memorable evening.
Reagrds, Coach Baz Greenaway
