The WYSA Fall Academy Mega Date was this past weekend at Ewald Soccer Park in Oconomowoc. PSU had teams compete in each of the 6 divisions, U8-U10 boys and girls. The event is organized by WYSA, and any club in the WYSA Youth Academy is eligible to participate. 129 teams participated in this event, which emphasizes the love of the game as the season kicks-off.
Here’s what the action looked like at this event in the spring

U14 Boys Red 04 and U15 Girls Rojo 03 started the year at the FC Green Bay Fall Kickoff tournament at UW Fond du lac Aug. 26-27.
The U14 boys played two solid games on Saturday winning 6-0 and 3-0. Sunday morning was played in a driving rain and the boys couldn’t keep up with the FC Green Bay U15 team falling 3-1.
The U15 Girls had an impressive run of form winning the tournament against quality opponents for the first games of the 2017-18 season.
Meeting Neenah Rush 15G, the girls marked their first victory (and a shutout!) with a 5-0 win. The afternoon brought a very physical matchup vs FCGB 15G, but the girls played their game and won 4-1. Sunday morning was quite rainy and cool, challenging the team’s level of play, but again marked a “W” with a 1-0 victory that led them to the championship to face again host team FC Green Bay.
The final match, after another physical competition, resulted in a draw, sending the teams to a PK shootout. In the shootout, each team selects 5 players that were active on the field at the end of time to go 1v1 against the opposing goalkeeper. FCGB took the first shot, and Kaelyn Stephenson (PS United keeper) made a brilliant stop. Shooting, and making their shots for PSU were Ella Rades (making the score 1-1), Morgan Rubelowski (2-1), Sarah Wegener (3-2) and Bella Sansone (4-2), and in 5th position Samantha August, who didn’t need to face the line. FCGB was blocked, then on target, then their 3rd shooter fired and the shot was blocked but called back for shooting before the whistle and the do-over went high over the crossbar; their 4th shooter hit the mark as did ours, which clinched the Championship.
Coach Brian Schmidt said, " Great start to the year for the girls. FCGB used two keepers and alternated them each shot. I’ve never seen that before. Kaelyn with a huge save on the first kick and clinical finishing from our four shooters. The girls played really well against quality opponents all weekend. They earned this one."
