Hudson Scheiber, from the U13 Red team, participated in the Mundialito International Football (soccer) tournament held in Spain the last week of March. As a member of Team USA IFC CoWi, Hudson was part of the biggest Children’s International Football Tournament in the world, with more than 300 teams and almost 5,000 participants from 50 countries and 5 continents.
Hudson’s road to Spain began last summer when he participated in the XR Soccer Camp through Xavi Rico’s organization (former Wave player and coach at SC Waukesha and Strike). Hudson then had a tryout and was one of 3 Wisconsin players to make the team (the other two played for Strike). The balance of his team was mostly from the Denver area, where Coach Rico now resides.
The tournament dates to 1993 marking this year as its 25th anniversary. Team USA faced tough competition against FC Porto (Portugal), Corinthians (South Africa), and two local teams from Catalonia. Other countries represented were Brazil, Guatemala, Korea, England, Japan, Argentina, Mali, Hong Kong, Germany, Oman, Russia, Turkey, Australia, Canada among others.
Here’s what Hudson had to say about the experience:
“I got the opportunity this spring to play in Spain on the U12 USA Team. I got on the team through a training with XR Soccer Training. The experience was incredible! I most enjoyed the intensity and technique of our opponents from around the world. I would like to thank PSU Coach Cristian Ramirez Raggio and Andy Berlinski for preparing me for this trip. I would also like to thank Coach Xavi Rico on getting us ready to compete, not just participate, at such a high level.”

Pewaukee Sussex United is pleased to welcome Melissa Loretto as the Micro Coordinator, beginning Spring 2018.
Melissa joins us as a former player with Trinity International University (IL). She has coached 6 seasons as a high school coach, currently Muskego HS, and 4 seasons as a junior development program coach for an IL club.
Melissa’s aim is to develop the skills of young athletes in a fun, enjoyable environment that will set them up for future success. She believes soccer is an amazing sport and is thankful for the opportunities that soccer has given her as a player. She hopes to open the door for young kids to fall in love with soccer so they too can experience the great sport that it is. For the Micros program, her goal is to nurture young athletes’ passion for the game of soccer while developing some of the fundamental skills required to be successful in soccer such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and playing with their teammates (1v1, 2v2).
Melissa grew up in Verrnon Hills, IL and currently resides in Waukesha. She is a math teacher at Muskego High School.
Please join us in welcoming Melissa!
